Frida Kahlo, a woman, a friend, an artist

Born on July 6, 1907 in Coyocoan, a small village in Mexico, no one would have guessed that she, Frida Kahlo, would become one of Mexico’s most recognizable and admired artists. Her life could have been one as normal and conventional as any other one. It wasn’t. It was laden with controversies, pain, passion, happiness, and illnesses. She contracted polio at the age of six and became bedridden for a very long nine months. Later, she would favor wearing long skirts to hide her misshapen leg.
